I'm sure you've heard this question before, Why are top network marketing company's products so expensive?

This is one of those ever-present questions that networkers and direct sales people will continue to encounter (probably) forever--and there's always more to it than meets a simple answer.

One key is not to side-step it. There are good and genuine reasons for legitimate, premium-priced products--and of course there are over-priced ones as well. Honesty is best, as always, and I'll endeavor to give you the general truth with my answer to the question.

Special Products at Special Prices

First, the products available through top network marketing companies sales and distribution model are mostly what are called "specialty" items. They are higher priced products to begin with, having more costly ingredients and more complex designs or formulas; they are simply more expensive to make and package. Some well-known non-network marketed examples are Clinique makeup and fragrance products, Apple computers, iPods and iPhones, Armani clothing, Mercedes and Lexus automobiles.

Unless you're dealing with a scheme or a scam, these premium products outperform their cheaper, off-the-shelf counterparts, giving consumers more and better benefits. Since they have greater value, they cost more.

If these products are being outsourced by the networking company (produced by a "third-party" vendor/supplier), they tend to be manufactured in smaller production runs that do not allow for all the optimal low-cost advantages of buying and making in the high volumes mass-marketers enjoy. The manufacturing processes are more complex and exclusive. The profit margins are higher. This results in a higher quality product with more attention to detail and quality control.

The reason manufacturers and marketing companies select network marketing and direct sales is because these higher-priced products are of higher quality, and they therefore require special methods of distribution and sales.

Simply put, they cannot compete with the lower-priced, lower quality "commodity" products, which are sold based mainly on discounted mass-market pricing and brand awareness alone. Think Wal-Mart and Costco.

Specialty products are "education-intensive." They need greater explanation; for example, what formula, ingredients and/or processes makes the product more expensive than those mass-market goods available through direct response marketing (such as the Internet and mail-order) or retail chain store sales. Many require demonstration.

Mass-market products depend on advertising, promotion and merchandising at "point-of-purchase," all of which are required to get consumers' attention, let them know the product exists (to create "trial" especially if it's "brand" new), and to give them enough compelling reasons to purchase and keep on purchasing.

Going head-to-head with nationally advertised products, many to most of which are heavily discounted and sold at the lowest price possible, is a tough game for just about all smaller businesses to win. Imagine trying to sell vitamins or nutritional beverages or "prestige" cosmetics against a major manufacturer selling through Wal-Mart, or a natural toothpaste against a tube of Crest® through Kroger or Publix supermarkets.

Specialty products are perfect for the person-to-person, information-rich education, demonstration and service oriented methods of network marketing.

And that's where the important second aspect of network marketing's "higher price" comes in: the added value which you as a "distributor" add to the specialty products you sell.

Added Value Added

Network marketing and direct sales representatives add significant value to the product they sell and they are well paid when they do so successfully.

We reach consumers with the awareness of new products and services that ads and merchandising--no matter how persuasive or promiscuous--would not be able to reach out and touch. And by virtue of our one-on-one, personal relationship with these buyers, we appeal to them with a level of trust and service no mass-market, retail product advertiser could hope to compete with.

The extraordinary level of service Network Marketers provide is not available when buying through mail order or retail outlets. It is a real and tangible benefit, part of the product's value--and its price.

For example: Someone tries a network marketing anti-aging health product. It's personally presented for them--either in person or via mail--with a host of educational material about the product: scientific studies, article reprints, even books or tapes explaining how the product was made, how to use it, its unique features and its benefits.

Within one to two days, the network marketer again contacts the person to follow up, asking how they are doing, checking to see that their customer is following use directions properly, make recommendations, etceteras. These service calls continue daily, bi-weekly or weekly until the customer is satisfied and happy.

The network marketer will also continue to send informative and educational material such as updates from scientific literature. He or she will also let the customer know about other products the company offers that this particular customer with his or her unique needs and wants might also enjoy.

This is an extraordinary level of service that is a real and tangible benefit for the consumer. This kind of personal and knowledgeable attention is not available when buying through the Internet alone, or mail-order or most all retail outlets. It is one of the things network marketers are paid for and it is part of the product's value--and its price.

Are there cases where the above education and service are not offered? Of course.

Are there products that do not have special ingredients or qualities that support a higher price? Sure.

And are there times when a network marketed product is simply more expensive to pay for the multiple-level commission structure? Yes.

Back in the early 1950s, a dog grooming service was opened in New York City to serve people living in the exclusive Park Avenue, 70th and 80th Streets area. They charged $25 to shampoo and clip a dog. They had no customers. Then they jacked-up their prices to $250 per visit--and were an instant success. The Cadillac Seville, when first introduced in test-market showrooms priced at under $10,000, bombed; at $14,000 the very same automobile became an instant best-seller.

Value is a perception. The relationship between quality, benefit and price, i.e., value, is in the mind of the consumer-beholder. Businesses price goods and services according to what the market will bear. Successful marketers come up with just the right mix of value-benefit-price.

The majority of network marketing direct sales products are of the genuine higher-quality variety, not available in stores, special in ingredients, design and making.

Most offer the convenience of in-home or on-line ordering and to-the-door delivery. They are also special in terms of...

Marketing and Customer Service

The network marketing "sales person" adds value to the product through his or her education, service and sales to the customer.

All of this has its price. And according to consumer trends and the explosive growth of network marketing direct sales companies and their products worldwide, more and more people every day think it's worth it.

What's the truth about the price of products offered through network marketing? Are they too high? And if so, why?

The full answer to this one is complicated. If you need a short one, mine is:

High? Usually, yes.

Too high? Sometimes... yes, but generally no.

So, if they are high, why? Let's start with looking at what kind of products we're really talking about here.

The Truth is, Specialty Products Cost More

Network marketing is predominantly a "specialty products" business: The products we sell most often tend not to be the type you'd find in supermarkets, drug stores or any other mass merchandiser. They are not the kind that combines the lowest possible price for the least acceptable level of quality. For a conventional retail parallel, look at the products in a natural or health food store, beauty salon, boutique or upscale department store.

Specialty products cost more to make. The ingredients are unique and high quality and production is low quantity--the amounts manufactured usually are not great enough to take advantage of the economies of scale enjoyed by big-time, high-volume, mass-market producers. So these products more expensive--both to make and to buy.

Also, specialty product makers usually cannot depend on major advertising to increase sales: they don't have that kind of money. So they have to use more expensive forms of distribution, such as small, individual retail outlets whose profit margins are higher than mass-market stores and chains.

Profit Margins and Markups

Here's an example: a discount chain drug store might be able to markup a bottle of vitamins that normally sells for $3.00 wholesale for less than the normal 33 percent retail profit margin. And, because they buy in large volumes, they'll get the product for less than $3.00 to begin with.

A natural or health food store might buy that same product at the full $3.00 wholesale price, and use a markup of 50 percent to get their full 33.3 percent retail profit margin.

To the consumer, buying at retail, here's the difference: $3.99 at the drug store and $4.50 at the health food store.

And then there's "what the traffic will bear."

There are sexy boxes of imported chocolate that go for $38.00 each, and poly-bags of 50 mini Reeses Peanut Butter Cups you can get for less than $3.80. If your taste tends towards expensive, you'll generally pay more--in "margin" percentages to middle-people and in total dollars.

Let's look at a comparison of one single product offered through the conventional manufacturer-to-retailer distribution system and the exact same product sold through network marketing.

$$$ From Conventional Manufacturer to Consumer

We know specialty products cost more to make; again, the ingredients are unique and high quality, and the production is low quantity, so they are simply more expensive.

Manufacturers speak of "Cost of Goods" (CoG): that's the figure that a product costs the company to make, including overhead, ingredients, packaging and labeling, sales commissions (such as broker's fees), etc.

The very minimum a manufacturer needs to sell that product for is double, or a 50 percent margin. Considering that most competitive businesses operate on a six percent pre-tax profit, that leaves them 44 percent to pay for everything else. So, the $2.00 CoG product they make, they sell for $4.00.

Now, some manufacturers sell direct to retailers--not many, but a few do, and when they do, they'll take a higher profit margin to pay for the Cost of Sales (CoS).

However, most manufacturing companies deal through distributors, who charge for warehousing, shipping and selling the products to retail stores. Normal wholesale is a 25 percent markup, which you get by multiplying the purchase price--plus freight if not included--by 1.33. So, our $4.00 item would be sold by a wholesale-distributor to the retailer for $5.32. (Again, plus or not freight costs which can run 10 to 15 percent additional.)

To achieve a 33.3 percent profit margin, the retailer has a 50 percent mark-up--or higher. Our $5.32 product ends up on the shelf at $7.98.

Now, this is the minimum scenario--not what normally happens except in the more strongly competitive markets. It's not the least bit unusual to find the manufacturer selling that $2.00 CoG product for $5.00 or $6.00... the distributor working on 35 percent instead of 25 percent... and a retailer - especially from a specialty market segment--look for a 50 percent profit (i.e., a 100 percent markup), instead of "only" one third.

And if all of that were true, the retail price of the product through that sales and distribution system would be more like $14.95.

$$$ In Network Marketing Direct Sales

Let's work this one backwards (because that's how most of the numbers are figured for your commissions).

If the networking company's product sells to consumers for $15.00 it will have an average retail commission to the networker of from 20 percent to 40 percent. So, using a 30 percent retail commission, the company's "wholesale" price to the mlm distributor will be about $10.50.

Let's say that your company pays out a full 50 percent in "downline" or organizational commissions. That means that the company's lowest from-the-warehouse price for the product would be half of wholesale, or $5.25.

That's right in the ballpark for specialty manufacturing, distribution and sales.

It's a Question of Value

There is also a greater value, beyond the "specialty products" issues of ingredient quality, cost of manufacture and so forth and that's the education, information and service delivered by the person-to-person distribution network.

Learning the product's proper use, additional uses, history, all about the ingredients, etceteras, is all part of its value. And products offered through word-of-mouth network marketing have more of this "added value" than any others.

This last point begs the question:

"Are products purchased through network marketing higher priced to make up for the compensation or commission payments to distributors and their networks?"

Can they be? Yes.

Are they... usually? No and Yes.

In an authentic, intelligent, sincere and sensible network marketing direct sales company, one that's well-managed and directed... a company that understands that the financial health and well-being of the men and women in the field MUST lead their mission, decisions, strategy, policies and procedures... no.

But that new ostentatious corporate headquarters in the prestige location... corporate jet... an army of "distributor service" personnel... rock concert "conventions"... $50,000 "big name" keynote speakers... resort vacations and incentive cruses to exotic locations paid for by the company... luxury car allowances... are all expenses that need to be paid for. Where does that money come from?

Directly (in terms of potential commissions that will not be paid out to people) or indirectly (in over-priced products and/or inflated charges for marketing materials, self-replicating websites, business building tools and trainings), the money comes from only one place... the men and women in the field.

"So... do network marketed products cost more?" Sometimes yes and other times no.

Can they be more expensive than similar items of equal value offered in a conventional market such as a retail store? Yes, they can.

In fact, you can find numerous examples of both conventionally retailed products and networking products of similar sizes, shapes and qualities at prices that vary by as much as 30 to 40 percent or more.

The only sure rule in product pricing the world over is, "What the traffic will bear..." No matter what distribution and sales route the product travels. It's not so much a game of "Let the Buyer Beware," as it is and always will be...

"Let the Buyer Be Aware."

Factor in the at-home shopping convenience... the customer service... the satisfaction guarantee... personal attention... education and information--and in today's increasingly competitive global marketplace, the "aggressive pricing" posture being taken by more and more networking companies around the world--along with the generally superior quality of the products available through network marketing and direct sales...

... and I believe a growing number quality-conscious consumers will agree with me, top network marketing company's products represent outstanding value.

Network marketing is, or should be, organic by definition. After all, it comes about as a natural product, or byproduct, of normal actions of you, the network marketer. Like most things organic, it might benefit a little from some planting, fertilizing and removal of parasites.

A genuine "network marketer" is concentrating more on the network than the marketing side of the equation. Many of the sales made by network marketers come more often from the trust and relationship the buyer has with the marketer rather than from the perceived qualities of the product itself. Make no mistake here, a good product at a reasonable price can influence a lot of potential buyers, but the trust in the seller will have a lot more to do with success, all other things being equal.

This brings up a point for those interested in getting into a network marketing program, but who are afraid of having to "sell" things. If done properly, the major "job" of the network marketer is to continually expand their circle of friends and acquaintances. It's a rough life, isn't it?

Another point to remember is that many internet business opportunities and internet marketing techniques adapt themselves quite easily to the network marketing model. The main difference the network is built in cyberspace and you may never see a single customer.

HOW TO BUILD A NETWORK

There are many places and activities that are good for building your network, but there are a couple of steps you might want to take first.

* Prepare yourself: At first, there are going to be two strong tendencies on your part. One is to throw up your hands and quit at the first question or contact, the other is going to be the desire to make every meeting into a sale. Both of these will probably be influenced primarily by ignorance. If you don't know what you are talking about, you will either avoid the topic completely, or babble idiotically.

You should definitely be as familiar as possible with your company, its history, its place in the business community, the products you sell, prices, return policies, and the business opportunity itself, in the case of a multi-level-marketing business. You don't have to have every figure or statistic immediately at hand, that's what brochures, website, and lunch dates are for, but you should be able to present a rational overview without consternation.

You should also prepare some simple, tantalizing responses to such beautiful lead in questions such as, "And what business are YOU in?" In his book "The Wave 4 Way To Building Your Downline," Richard Poe offers tips from a successful network marketing professional named Jerry Campisi. When asked what he does for a living, Jerry would commonly reply, "I'm a lifestyle marketer." This response would very often elicit a request for further details on the part of the listener who would then be in the position of asking about what Jerry had to sell rather than having to run away from a sales pitch.

In his network marketing classic, "Big Al's Super Prospecting: Special Offers & Quick-Start Systems", Tom "Big Al" Schreiter offers much the same advice, including a list of sixteen possible responses, such as, "I put people on the fast track to retirement. I save them money and help them retire 15 years early". See how it works?

* Prepare your tools: It doesn't hurt to have some brochures in your pocket or purse, but the biggest single physical network marketing tool you will need for building your business and your network is the simple business card. Always have plenty of these with you and hand them out liberally. They should be simple and unobtrusive but should give the prospect all they need to get in touch with you. They should NOT be sales pitches, although they can contain the name of your business and/or a quick overview of your business. For example: Bob's Mowing - Complete Landscaping and Lawn Care. It is also a plus to include a website and email, particularly if they contain information about your business: bobrobertslandscaping.com, email bob@bobrobertslandscaping.com. That website did not exist when I wrote this, by the way, so if you are Bob Roberts and are in landscaping, go for it!

WHERE TO BUILD YOUR NETWORK

Your network will be mainly built from two groups, professional contacts and social contacts. I view professional contacts as two groups, although there might be some overlap or blurring between the two. I refer to connected and non-connected professionals.

YOUR PROFESSIONAL NETWORK

Connected professionals are the people you work with or come in contact with as a result of your "real" business if you are just getting started in network marketing. You have to be careful here as you can alienate someone you need for your regular business, or you might create a conflict or overstep a boundary. Just as one example, many companies frown on soliciting and might consider even talking about your network business as grounds for censure or even firing.

Non-connected professionals are those such as property managers, real estate agents, car sales people, and others who may already have a rich network of contacts, who may have some sales experience or expertise, and who might be interested in your opportunity if not your product. I won't call these people "fair game", but you certainly do have a little more latitude in contacting them and explaining your business, and having them join you could be quite a boost.

YOUR SOCIAL NETWORK

You may already have a broad network of social contacts, but here are a few suggestions of what you can do to broaden this network.

1. Public places and events: You can frequent malls, fairs, coffee shops, sidewalk sales, garage sales, and other group functions...all in the interest of broadening your reach. Stay away from selling. Talk of generalities or the weather, or who won the game last night, but have your cards ready and know what you are going to say when the moment arrives. A lady asked me about a wrap I had on my wrist the other day, and I jokingly replied that it was an occupational hazard. I spent so much time making money on my computer that I must have gotten carpal tunnel syndrome. Trust me, after that, she was more interested in the money she could make than possible damage to her arm. By the way, I switched to an ergonomic keyboard and mouse along with a better chair and it cleared up.

2. Clubs and organizations: While many of these are targeted groups with agendas of their own, there are a great many opportunities to network with the membership, and they are a great way to expand your own group of contacts. You can also sometimes get some great help in other ways as well. More than one person, including myself, has gotten a good job through a social contact, or a good price on furniture.

3. Speaking engagements: If you are knowledgeable on a subject related to your business, you can provide free workshops, classes, or talks on that subject. Don't think it works? I once watched woman who sold self-defense items such as pepper spray, whistles, and books, sell over 200 items after giving a 45 minute talk on protecting yourself.

4. Business lunches or seminars: Here's an opportunity to mingle with like minded people who might be interested in what you have to offer. It's a great time to exchange cards and practice your "what do you do for a living?" response. By the way, there is a website called MeetUp.com. You can go there and sign up to join or start groups of people in your area who share your interests. Two weeks from today, I am going to participate in a seminar on search engine optimization. The audience will include a lot of people who will be interested in internet marketing...a topic I know a little about. I wonder if I can give them a card?

There are many other situations such as PTA meetings, weddings, and even church functions which become great network marketing opportunities when you leave the selling at home and concentrate on making friends and acquaintances.

The desire to be recognized is one of the greatest motivators for people who join the network marketing profession. (Fact: Network marketing is not a industry it is a profession.) It is also a method of distribution.

When work is a grind and people get no public recognition, they will look for something that is more exciting. Network marketing is often the answer because this profession makes a huge fuss over its people, all the time. And why not? People build businesses, and smart network marketing executives no it. That's why Mary Kay Ash wraps furs around the shoulders of her cosmetic selling representatives and gives them pink cars to drive. Its why network marketing companies organize annual conventions; so they can praise their distributors and bring them on stage to publicly acknowledge their accomplishments. And the people love it, perhaps most people are starved for this kind of attention.

People also join this profession, because of the personalities of the people who make up the profession. Spend an evening with a bunch of network marketers, and you'll be amazed by their positive attitudes, friendliness, and willingness to help each other. They don't keep secrets from their colleagues. if they find a solution to a problem, they want everyone to take advantage of it. Color, creed, gender, education, and seniority are issues network marketers leave behind at other previous jobs.

Personal development is another motivator for people drawn to network marketing.Often, people are so beat down by jobs, employers, coworkers, commuting and the need to get ahead that they lose self esteem. Then their attitude takes a nose dive, possibly followed by their health. Sooner or later, some of these folks look at themselves in a mirror and ask; why? That's when the right network marketing company can rescue them. Most companies, through weekly telephone conference calls, regional and annual, video and audio, and workbooks, encourage their distributors to work on themselves harder than they work on their businesses. People with high self esteem usually don't struggle as networkers. In fact they're very good at it. And the more successful they become the better they become at it.

People get involved in network marketing for many reasons other than money, and at first that amazed me.I thought everyone would be motivated by the money, but a lot of people are attracted to the recognition. Imagine someone who has gone to work everyday for years, grinding it out and never getting any recognition, not even a pat on the back. as soon as they join a network marketing company and get a little success, they go to a meeting with hundreds of people, and they're asked to stand up so that everyone can cheer for them. That puts fuel in the boiler! They can't wait to get out there and do something so they can get recognized for it again.

Although people may think that their getting into network marketing for the money, a friend of mine, David Arcangelo, a former network marketer disagrees. Really they're attracted to the people. As a Network marketer, you get a chance to teach other people and watch them succeed, and most people relish that opportunity. If things work out, you may even earn a tremendous amount of money. David was never a full time network marketer, he dabbled in the profession just for the fun of it, and because I like the people, he explains. That fun led to a downline of 7,000 networkers, and even after David stopped actively working in the business, his commission checks continued to increase.

How could this happen? he didn't work and he still got paid? And he got paid more? Yes! It's called residual income. It's one of the greatest benefits of network marketing.

Another major bonus in network marketing is the ability to set your own hours and to work around your families schedule.

The approach of a brutally honest marketing network

Network marketing has quickly become one of the fastest growing ways to work at home. Sometimes called Multi Level Marketing or Affiliate Marketing, Network marketing is based around the concept of recruiting. You join a program that utilizes network marketing to sell a product, and you make money by recruiting new sellers who have purchased their products from you and are now selling their own. You may get a cut of their sales and their recruits' sales and so on for many levels. The possibilities are endless, and so is the income potential. So it sounds all gravy right? All you have to do is get your business up and running by joining the program of your choice and recruiting new prospects.

It sounds easy enough, doesn't it? It sure did for me, and I cannot describe how excited I was about finally being able to do something about my job that I hated and the long, miserable days that I spent there. I was so ready and eager to go out there and be successful with my new network marketing business. I had all the resources I needed at my fingertips through my program, and all I had to do was turn the key.

Once I did a little research, I saw that there were lots of other people recruiting and advertising their opportunity. No sweat, it just shows how many people were having success with this concept, and it was time to get in on my slice of the pie! I mean, if people were not successful with it, then why would they be advertising it? I'll admit, it started out a little slow. Well, very slow. I found myself doing everything I could within time and budget restraints to promote my program, but I was generating no results from my efforts. Day after day I would check my email, vigorously hoping to be greeted by an email from my program telling me I had signed up a new recruit. Every day I would have a little less excitement while opening my inbox, and a little more lost hope when I saw no email containing the good news I had anticipated. Weeks turned into months of unsuccessful promoting. I finally gave up, threw in the towel, and turned to face the miserable reality of a job I hated with no escape.

My name is Joe Borowy and this is the story of how I failed with Network Marketing. I'm sure its the same story many of you reading this would write about your experience with Network Marketing. The truth is 95% of Network Marketing Businesses fail. All too often, a story of one's failure looks no different from my own. It can depressing when you think about how much hope and drive you had to be successful, all to see it slowly fade away.

After my Network Marketing Business failed, I continued to do research on the concept of Network Marketing and I was determined to figure out how the 5% who do succeed with Network Marketing go about doing it. I had to sift and search through many bogus methods, useless "secrets," and sales pitches that targeted Network Marketing failures like me. Many websites out there try to target people who have failed with Network Marketing, promising new ways to make money from it and new methods to drive success. As you probably know, there are also many websites who target Network Marketing novices, and create false hope and promise. These are what I call "Vegas Airport Slot Businesses." For anyone who has been to Las Vegas, you know that the airport is famous for having hundreds of slot machines for you to play right after you get off the plane. The airport makes shocking amounts of money from these slots. They have horrible odds, but most of the people who play them don't know that. What is their goal? They want your gambling money to be spent as soon as you get off the plane. Most people are dying to play the slots for the whole duration of the plane trip. As soon as they get off the plane, the slots are right there waiting for them. You would be surprised on how much people blow on these things. After they've had enough, the people go about their vacations, have a good time, and most likely lose a good chunk of money. After a few days, they are ready to cut their losses, and get on a plane to head home. They are dissappointed because they didn't hit any jackpots. They have a few dollars left, and they recognize the airport slots as their last chance to hit the big one. They sit down with a revitalizing hope of going home on with more then they came with. Soon enough, they have nothing left, and are dissappointed once again.

So what do these slots have to do with Network Marketing? They are built on the same principles. The Las Vegas airport slots are designed to crop you up with hope and excitement for the opportunity to gain wealth, and take your last dollars after you lose. The sad reality is most of the network marketing programs you will come across are designed one of these two ways. They either want your first and foremost dollars, or your last, desperate dollars. Remember, the executives and founders of these programs know very well that 95% who enroll will fail. Its just the sad truth.

So...Is there any realistic hope of being successful with network marketing?

I am very glad to say yes, there is. I am not going to try to pitch a sale to you here, but I have found several factors that are essential for any success with network marketing. Some are more obvious than others, and some of the obvious ones are much more important than you might expect.

Here they are, in no particular order:

1. Relationships- This is probably the most important factor of developing a successful Network Marketing Business. When trying to find new people to enroll in your opportunities, you have to prove to them you are trustworthy and that you want them to be successful. The best way to do this is by working to make your network successful, rather than using them to make yourself successful. It not only will make your more money in the long run, but you will enjoy doing it. It will develop a "family" atmosphere of sort between you and your network. It will truly feel like the perfect job, because all of your colleagues are happy, and you all help each other. This is the x-factor of success with networking. Even if you were to do everything else right, your business would slowly fade away if you had no relationship with your enrollees.

2. Communication- This one is very obvious, but often is missing link for many up and coming Network Marketers. Most programs utilize some kind of autoresponse system for its enrollees. Too many Network Marketers label this as their communication with their prospects. To truly develop the relationships you need to be successful in the long run with Network Marketing, first hand communication is a must. Live calls and personal calls can be good, but many people, like myself, don't like phone interaction for Network Marketing. I feel that calling prospects about opportunities, or calling new enrollees to motivate them to push forward with their business could easily put someone in a situation where they are back into a corner and do something they don't really want to do. That's why I prefer email as the main communication source for my network. It allows friendly communication, encouragement, advice, and motivation without putting anyone on the spot. More enrollees does not necessarily mean a better overall network.

3. A Realistic Opportunity- The Internet has become oversaturated with hundreds of network marketing programs, all of which claim to be the best. It is important only to promote programs with realistic opportunity in the long run. Look for a reputation, a good amount of included resources, or even in some cases, a new program in prelaunch that offers you an upgraded membership at no cost. Be careful though, there are thousands of great salesmen on the Internet, and it is very easy to be deceived. I have tested dozens of programs, and yet, only offer several opportunities to my website readers and mailing list. I wouldn't want to waste their time offering them a program that probably would not work for me. If you are looking for a realistic opportunity, browse my website http://www.successforfreedom.com and see if you like any of the opportunities I promote. I try to include something for everyone.

4. Mailing Lists- Not only developing your own, but signing up for others on the Internet that have good resources and tips. By getting people to sign up for your own mailing lists, it allows you to communicate with them and share with them new opportunities, as well as feed the new relationships you are developing. It is very important to sign up for other mailing lists, as they often are the best sources for fresh, new opportunities. Pass these on to your own email list, and your list will do the same for their own lists.

5. A Goal, a Drive, and a Reason Why- Any successful entrepreneur will tell you that in order to be successful, you have to want to be successful and have a reason why you want to obtain success. I'm not just talking about wanting to get rich and live the easy life. You need to have a personal drive of why you want to achieve success and what you plan to do with it once you have achieved it. Wanting to get away from your current job probably won't be enough. For me, it has always been wanting to enjoy the finer aspects of every day life, and not having to worry about little things, like finances. For most people, money is anything but a little thing. I always wanted to be successful not so that I could be rich, but so that I wouldnt have to worry about money. I believe worry is an unneccesary part of life, and I always hated having to worry about money. Money is the root of all evil, and even if you have alot of it, it doesn't benefit your life quality unless you have some higher goal in mind of why you want it. If you don't have any reason for being involved with Network Marketing other than wanting some extra money to spoil yourself with, then this business probably isn't for you. The people who succeed in Network Marketing love what they do, and have a drive inside that fuels them to keep going.

The bottom line is this: To be successful with Network Marketing, you have to enjoy doing it, and help others enjoy it by working for their success. It is better to have a team of 10 hard working, highly driven enrollees who love doing what they do than to have 100 paid members in your downline who you never hear from. They wont last, and the chances are that only 5 of them will be successful. Network Marketing is not for everyone, and there is no shame in acknowledging that it is not for you at this point in life. Perhaps later in life, you will have a good reason why you want to succeed with Network Marketing, and you will be ready for it. You don't want to get into this business if you won't enjoy it. I promise you that.

If you are considering getting into the Network Marketing business, do yourself a favor and define for yourself A Goal, a Drive, and a Reason Why.

Network marketing offers people a real chance of creating financial security and independence

This unique business has millions of distributors doing billions of pounds in sales annually. It is conducted in nearly 100 countries around the world. It has been praised by leading business people and also by heads of state for boosting the economy. Yet most people in the UK are still totally confused by it.

Network marketing has created many millionaires and spread that excitement to millions more, but just what are the realities of this business?

So what is network marketing?

Network Marketing is based on the concept of 'networking'. We all have a circle of people we know through the circumstances of our daily lives and each of these people will have their own circle of acquaintances, colleagues, family and friends. Network Marketing involves tapping into these networks not only to sell product but also to offer the business opportunity to potential new distributors who then start the process of developing their own networks for selling and recruiting.

In network marketing, services and products are distributed to the final consumers through a network of independently contracted distributors or agents (also known as consultants). These distributors are then financially rewarded in two ways: a) from commissions and overrides from sales generation and b) for their contribution to the building up of the network by getting new 'recruits' to be downline distributors. The network marketing business model works because of the price differential that is generated from the distributor to the consumer. If the recruits of the one you recruited generate sales, you get a percentage of the price differential for the sales, and so on.

Network marketing is usually associated with pyramid or ponzi scams. This is because the main structure of the two models can be quite similar at first glance. However, if one takes a closer look at the models, there is one big and defining difference between them. The main difference between a legal network marketing firm and a pyramid scam is that the first one offers real products and services, the latter only promises opportunities and generates money from the cost of entry of the recruited members. A pyramid scam re-channels the incoming funds from the fees that newly recruited 'members' pays for entering the scheme and does not generate any kind of profits from other endeavors. The masterminds of the scam benefits while leaving most, if not all, of the downlines in financial burdens.

o As the networks widen, so the individual leader benefits not only from their own sales but also a percentage of the sales from their network. As more people join the network, so residual income increases.

o network marketing allows its distributors not only to network outwards in order to sell the product but also to benefit from their downline's downline, either to a limited depth or ad infinitum. However, the two terms tend to be used fairly indiscriminately.

o As with any other home-based business, distributors need to work hard and have courage and determination. Finding a good sponsor is just as important as finding an interesting product and a good compensation plan which offers flexibility and just reward for effort. Contrary to expectation, the newcomer has the same potential for success as the long-term sponsor provided that the necessary research and skills training takes place. It is not necessary to be 'in at the beginning' and in some cases it may prove more difficult and risky to join at the beginning than to join a plan which has reached a more mature phase. Network Marketing is particularly suited to married women with family commitments as it offers them an opportunity to start a business on a part time basis with very little capital. The opportunity now exists for enterprising women to use their talents and the skills gained from motherhood to build businesses based both on selling and on finding and supporting the efforts of others.

There are 2 trends that are driving this industry forward:

a. General shift towards self-employment.

b. People's quest for a better lifestyle - They no longer want to work 40 or 50 hours a week just to pay bills.

For many people Network Marketing is the only way to Create Financial Freedom in the UK today.

One business magazine wrote "Network marketing is so far ahead of the competition when it comes to money and lifestyle that is in a league of its own."

With a traditional career you only get paid for the hours that you work. When you leave your employment your monthly salary stops and all you are left with is experience and perhaps a pension, which is rarely enough to live on. Network marketing is entirely different - Your efforts are multiplied by helping people succeed with their businesses, so that your investment comes back many times over, to create time and financial freedom. The longer you work at it, the easier it becomes. The more you help others become successful, the more successful you become.

"Network marketing offers people an opportunity to build a business of their own, with a small amount of capital, in their own time and with the help of a sponsor who is willing to help them every step of the way". Prime Time Magazine

As you leverage your efforts you create a 'residual income' - by helping enough people become successful. Over time, you can build a truly passive income that keeps paying you long after you have done the work.

Consider this-

According to a study conducted in the USA in 1995, 'Out of 100 people who are working at age 25, by the age of 65...

o 63% are dependent on Social Security, friends or relatives

o 29% are dead

o 3% are still working

o 4% have adequate capital for retirement

o 1% are wealthy

Questions normally asked about Network Marketing .

Q.Can Network Marketing be done successfully part-time?

A. Absolutely...it's very common in fact. You can start your Network Marketing business on a part-time basis without giving up your current source of income until your Network Marketing business is generating the income you require. And the best part is that you can continue to operate indefinitely on a part-time basis. What would you do if you were financially independent and most of your time was free to do with as you pleased? This is why so many people are flocking to Network Marketing. And that's why we say that Network Marketing puts the freedom back in free enterprise!

Q. Do I have to sell products door-to-door or hold parties or meetings?

A. No. One of the greatest features of Network Marketing is that success can be achieved using a wide variety of methods. You choose the methods that YOU are comfortable with. Within Tiscali we use amazing internet technologies . No delivering products, no collecting money, no party plan meetings!

Q. Isn't Network Marketing one of those pyramid schemes?

A. Definitely not. Though Network Marketing and pyramid schemes do share some similarities, there's a very important difference that makes the latter illegal. You see, in pyramid schemes, income is generated solely on the process of recruiting others into the pyramid. Sometimes a product or service of questionable value is involved(that is never retailed to the general public by the way), but generally what you're buying is the right to recruit others into the scheme. This is illegal. Also, in pyramid schemes, those who get in first and who are at the top win, while everybody else loses. In a legitimate Network Marketing company, on the other hand, distributors are paid only on product movement; not on recruiting. Both at wholesale and retail. There's also compensation based on the training and managing of your marketing team. And unlike illegal pyramids, in Network Marketing, no matter where you're positioned or when you join, you can advance to the very highest income levels and even make more money than those above you in the network.

Q. I'm not a salesperson, so this probably isn't for me.

A. Actually, studies have shown that people with no sales experience do great in Network Marketing. In fact, the studies show that they often do better than those with previous sales experience. This is because Network Marketing isn't about selling; at least not in the way most people think of selling. There's no place for arm-twisting or high-pressure techniques in Network Marketing. Rather, Network Marketing is simply about sharing the concepts and products of your Network Marketing company that you use and you're excited about.

Q. How much money can I make?

A. The bottom line is you'll get out of it what you put into it. It works...if you do. But that's the beauty of it, too; you are in control; it's up to you how far you take it. And don't forget, the income you create in Network Marketing is residual. This basically means that for the work you do just today, you have the potential to earn money not only for today but for years to come.

Q. What's so important about sponsoring in this business anyway?

A. It's like this... it doesn't matter how intelligent, rich, energetic, or dynamic you are;we are all limited to the same 24 hours a day. By sponsoring, however, you can overcome this limitation. By sponsoring, you can virtually clone yourself and have dozens, hundreds, even thousands of people all working indirectly on your behalf on their time and receive a cut of everything they do. Sponsoring also builds your security in this business. Why? In most traditional businesses, what happens if you become ill or disabled and are unable to service your customers? Or perhaps you just want to take a nice long vacation? Whatever the case, you could lose most if not all of your income overnight because it relies on you being there. That's not owning your own life and that's certainly not financial freedom.Through the process of sponsoring and building a downline in Network Marketing, however, you can create total financial freedom for yourself. With a downline of independent business people working for you, you no longer have all your eggs in one basket. On the contrary, because each person in your downline has a vested interest in continuing and building their own businesses, you create an income that is non-dependent upon you - an income that can continue, even grow, indefinitely with or WITHOUT you.

Q. Do I have to stock and deliver products?

A. Most Network Marketing companies today allow its distributors (and often even retail customers) to order direct from the company. The company simultaneously tracks your commissions, credits your account, and automatically sends you a check for the total amount due.

Q. Isn't Network Marketing just another "get-rich-quick" scheme?

A. No, "get-rich-quick" is a fairy tale. It just doesn't happen in the real world. Sure, there are a few exceptions, but they're extremely rare. In fact, if overnight riches is your dream, your odds are probably better playing your state lottery than doing it in business - any business.

Q. I couldn't get involved in Network Marketing. It's not a "real" business.

A. It's very real. Network Marketing is now a multi-billion dollar industry involving millions of independent business people and major U.S. corporations like Colgate-Palmolive, Gillette, Sprint, and MCI, just to name a few. And it's a rapidly-growing international force, too, with thousands of Network Marketing companies already in operation in Canada, Mexico, Europe, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and the Pacific Basin.

Q. If Network Marketing is so great, why aren't more people involved?

A. That can be summed up in one word: misconceptions. The general public just doesn't understand what Network Marketing is or its potential. But that's finally starting to change. Right now it's estimated that only about 2% of the U.S. population is involved in Network Marketing. But industry experts predict that that number could climb to 10% by the end of this decade. You can position yourself to take advantage of this trend by getting started in Network Marketing now. The timing is great for getting involved!

Q. What are the costs involved in starting and operating this kind of business?

A. Virtually all Network Marketing companies require you to first purchase some kind of "Starter Kit." This is a one-time cost, and is usually less than $100. In addition, of course, you'll have monthly expenses for office supplies, postage, advertising, etc. A total of £50-£150 pounds per month is probably a realistic expenditure to expect. Anyone can afford this amount of money without jeopardising their current lifestyle while they're trying to build a better one. And here's some more good news - most, if not all of that, is tax deductible.

Q. What if I can't afford to buy extra products.

A. You're not supposed to. Network Marketing companies just want you to replace those products you now buy elsewhere with the equivalent-but-higher-quality products your Network Marketing company manufactures. By doing so, you'll likely save money since you now get to buy at wholesale. Plus, it only makes sense to buy from yourself - to buy from "your own store."

Q. I've tried Network Marketing before and it didn't work for me.

A. Let's say you've just moved into a new city and you decided to go out to eat that evening. Unfortunately, the food at the restaurant you picked turned out to be horrible. But just because of this one bad experience, you surely wouldn't swear off eating at all the other restaurants in the city, would you? Of course not! Network Marketing is no different. There are fair Network Marketing companies, great Network Marketing companies, and, yes, even some bad Network Marketing companies. But Network Marketing works! You just need to link up with the right company and the right opportunity at the right time. See MLM RockStars.

Q. I don't have the cash right now to get involved in Network Marketing.

A. Get it! If a brand new £60,000 Mercedes were offered to you for £1000, would you find the money somehow to buy it? Go and get the money because your own Network Marketing business could be worth a lot more than that Mercedes.

Q. I can see how others have become successful, but I don't think I could do it.

A. People of every age, every background, from every walk of life are making it in Network Marketing today. If you have the desire, you can succeed in Network Marketing.

Q. If I would happen to be sponsored by someone half way across the country, how do I get questions answered? And what about training?

A. Free consultation and assistance from your sponsor, other upline associates(and often the corporate staff of your Network Marketing company) is a phone call away.Faxes, E-Mail, Voice Mail, and other new technologies also provide fast and efficient communications between upline and downline...no matter where they're located. As for long-distance training, this is easily handled through video training CD's, audio taped seminars, books, online computer and telephone conferences, etc.

Q. I just don't have the time to start a Network Marketing business. I've got too many irons in the fire already.

A. That's precisely why you should consider Network Marketing. Besides creating financial freedom, Network Marketing is specifically designed to create personal freedom for you so that you can do all the things in life you really want to do that you don't have the time for now.

Q. Don't you have to get in at the beginning to make any real money? Doesn't saturation eventually occur?

A. That's another big misconception that's been perpetuated by the media for years. The fact is, there has never been any evidence produced that "saturation" occurs in Network Marketing. This very topic was debated in U.S. courts at one time and that was the conclusion by the courts.Secondly, realise that because Network Marketing is still a very young industry, there are hundreds of millions of prospects worldwide who have never even heard of Network Marketing. It will take years to even make a dent in that. But here's the main reason why "saturation" is a myth: Timing. In the U.S. alone, there are tens of thousands of brand new prospects "hatched" every year.Part of that figure is young adults who have only just reached the stage in their lives where they'd consider (and could afford) to start a business. Then there are the thousands who have just experienced a major shift in the direction of their lives because of changes at work, at home, etc. These same people, who just months before could in no way, shape, or form be considered prospects for Network Marketing, NOW are suddenly very open to the proposition. And this is happening constantly. Bottom line: The market is wide open and the potential is enormous.

Finally, Internationally acclaimed business people agree that Network Marketing represents one of the greatest opportunities in the world today.

Network marketing is hard. Don't kid yourself and truthfully don't even attempt a network marketing venture unless you either have or plan to put into place a highly potent and highly duplicatable network marketing system

geared for 2005 and beyond.

Before I tell you what a perfect network

marketing system

should look like let's talk about what doesn't

work for most

network marketers. As I'm sure you probably

know, network

marketing is notorious for having a 95% failure

rate. Let's

talk about why.

Have you ever heard of Occam's razor?

Basically it states that the simplest

explanation for a

phenomenon is usually the best. We'll use this

theory to

explain why more than 95% of network marketers

fail.

Ready?

Most network marketers fail because the

marketing methods

that they are taught don't work 95% of the time.

Pretty

simple right?

So we're led to ask the logical next question,

what are most

fledgling network marketers taught?

Well, I can only speak from my experience, but

what I was

taught was to buy and cold call leads.

Now, I'm not going to say this doesn't work, but

I will say

is that after six months of cold calling leads

for 3 hours a

day with very little success this tactic doesn't

work for

me. Don't get me wrong some people are very good

at cold

calling leads, but most people aren't.

What happens to most people after they've spend

thousands of

dollars on leads with very little success after

months of

effort?

They give up.

Another factor contributing to why most network

marketers

fail is the type of leads they use. Why does the

type of

leads make a difference?

Business opportunity leads, the leads most new

network

marketers are told to use, are generic. These

leads answer

an ad that just asks them if they want to be

financially

free, or make money from home or something like

that.

Well . . . of course they do!

But that doesn't mean they want anything to do

with YOUR

network marketing program. When the average

network marketer

calls these generic bizz opp leads the leads

don't know

anything about the network marketer's business

and for the

most part honestly don't care. This leads to

the fledgling

network marketer hearing a lot of "NOs".

Hearing NO all the time leads to quite a bit of

self doubt,

both about the network marketers own ability and

the

validity of their association with their network

marketing

company. Negative feelings begin to harbor and

as I said

before eventually the network marketer gives up,

usually

with 3-6 months.

The fledgling network marketer's perception of

their

business goes from one of opportunity to one of

complete

doubt and negativity. Reality follows

perception, so because

the fledgling network marketer believes both

themselves and

their business as having little hope this

becomes TRUE.

That's basically why 95% of network marketers

fail if you

asked me.

So how do we change this paradigm?

We build a Perfect Network Marketing System!

Now we get to the good stuff! What does a

perfect network

marketing system look like?

For the average home based network marketer to

be successful

certain thing MUST be in place. I will list them

here:

o Lead capture page designed specifically for

specific

Network Marketing Company:

This page must contain strong sales copy that

tells the

prospect why he wants to opt in for more

information. The

best way to do this is to offer a High Value

Free Report in

exchange for there contact information.

o Free Report specifically designed for Network

Marketing

Companies Opportunity:

The free report must be highly informative. It

must explain

all of the features and benefits of joining the

network

marketing organization as an independent

distributor and

must focus on the support and resources

available to the new

recruit should they choose to purchase a

distributorship.

The company's products and compensation plan

must be clearly

explained here as well. If possible,

testimonials should be

used, as they are extremely powerful sales

conversion tools

in this portion of the sale process.

o Follow up Email System:

Attached to the Free Report there must also be a

follow up

system that continually markets through email

the program to

the lead. Most leads don't act immediately and

must be

marketed to at least 7 times before they take

action. The

email follow up system must have strongly worded

sales copy

and must have a system for getting through spam

filters.

o A Continual Feed Back System that uses the

Fear of Loss:

Along the with email follow up system there must

be a

feedback system that will alert the prospect by

email when

new prospects opt into the system and invoke the

fear of

loss during this process by telling the prospect

that if the

next prospect in line upgrades to a paid

position before he

does then he will forever loose commission on

that prospect.

This is an extremely powerful psychological tool.

o Strong Support:

It's one thing to get someone to buy a

distributorship, but

it's a totally different thing get them to work

the business

effectively. There must be an email follow up

system once a

new distributor signs on to ensure that he

receive adequate

training on how to market successfully. There

must also be

human support at this point. So, there must be

strong

relationships built between upline and new

distributors.

o A Good Product or Service:

In order for this entire marketing process to

work, the

system must be back by a strong and ethical

network

marketing organization that sells a high demand

product that

people need and would purchase even if there

were no

compensation plans attached to it.

o You:

You must be an active part of your business. You

must be

willing and open to learn new ideas and tactics

at all

times. You must have a passion for your business

and truly

believe in the product that you plan to build your

organization around.

In Conclusion:

I've listed the basic component's a of a perfect

network

marketing system. This system will involve NO

cold calling

because the prospect will opt in to request more

information

specifically about your business before you even

talk to

them.

Cold calling generic bizz opp leads and hearing

a lot of

NO's is what causes most network marketers to

fail. We want

to avoid this at all cost. This is what this

system is

designed to do!

By having your prospects opt in specifically for

more

information about your product and business plan

and then by

giving them a detailed report explaining all of

the above

before you even speak to them your chances of a

successful

sales conversion will greatly be increased. The

email

follow-up and fear of loss systems will increase

your

chances successful sales conversion even

further. These

factors will cut down on the number of NO's that

the you

must endure before success. This will increase

your home

business's duplicability vastly.

Further, having uniform training and exceptional

support are

the basics and must be present.

So,

Before you spend another dollar on your network

marketing

efforts ask yourself if you're using a perfect

network

marketing system. If your answer is no and you

aren't having

any success then ask yourself what you can do to

change your

system to one that will work for you and your

future

distributors using the principles that I have

detailed

above.

I struggled with network marketing myself using

the old

fashion methods, but as soon as I studied

internet marketing

and how to apply it to network marketing things

got a lot

easier. I was able to spot network marketing

organizations

that were specifically positioned for internet

marketing and

earmark what I thought to be the best of the

bunch. After

that, it was simple a matter of choosing the one

that with

what I though had the "best product".

You can view my choice here:

http://www.the1andonly.biz. As

a result of making this choice I recruited new

members my

very first day without having to call anyone or

hear

thousands of NOs. All I do is get traffic to my

website and

I make money.

Network marketing can certainly make you rich,

that is... if

you have the perfect system in place!

There are many reasons why people fail in network marketing.

However, instead of looking into each of these causes, the purpose of this article is to explain what people MUST know when they start their network marketing business so that they will have a better chance to succeed.

This is what you must know in order to succeed in your network marketing business:

1) What is your "job" scope?

2) What is expected of you in your "job"?

3) What you should expect in your "job"?

Network marketing is a business and not a job! In fact, in the network marketing or MLM circle, the acronym J.O.B. stands for:

- Just Obey Boss (Work on a job and take orders from the boss.)

- Just Over Broke (Work on a job, get paid, and after you pay all your bills, you'll be just over broke.)

- Journey Of the Broke (Work on a job and you'll likely end up broke after working their whole life!)

- Jump Out of Bed (Hit the alarm clock and jump out of bed each morning to get yourself ready for another day's work.)

So, what am I talking about?

1) WHAT IS YOUR "JOB" SCOPE?

Say, you check out a job on a classified ad. You'll be looking at the job title and then the job description. Some ads are so small that you really wonder what's involved. So, you write that perfect job application letter, update your resume and secure your interview. And besides the salary that you'd most interested in, you'd be finding out the duties and responsibilities of the job.

Bottom line: You know the scope of your job when you get one.

Now, when you start out in your network marketing business, do you know your "job" scope?

As a network marketer, this is your "job" scope:

- UNDERSTAND YOUR PRODUCT AND OFFERINGS

> Learn about the products especially those that you want to focus on (if your company offers a wide range)

> Find out the unique selling proposition of your products. In other words, what are the benefits of your products?

> Be a product of your products so as to know their pros and cons and you'll be able to share from first-hand experience.

- UNDERSTAND THE COMPANY, ITS MISSION AND VISION

> Find out when and how was the company started

> Find out who owns it and who's who in the management team

> Find out where are the regional offices (if any) and visit some of them if possible

> Know the company's mission and its vision

- UNDERSTAND THE COMPENSATION PLAN

> Study the compensation plan and know how to explain to others clearly

> Know the merits of your company's compensation plan and how it compare with other compensation plans.

- UNDERSTAND THE NETWORK MARKETING INDUSTRY

> Find out about the network marketing industry and how it started

> Study the difference between legitimate network marketing and illegal pyramids

- BUILD YOUR NETWORK THROUGH DUPLICATION

> Realize that network marketing is not sales but a "people" business

> Build your network through your circle of influence and relationship, friendship, partnership and leadership

> Provide training and support to duplicate your downline business partners

> Multiply your efforts so as to grow your business exponentially through the power of LEVERAGE

2) WHAT IS EXPECTED OF YOU IN YOUR "JOB"?

Once you got that job and started working, you are expected to learn and pick up your skills from your seniors and your peers and even from your subordinates.

It is in fact not much different in network marketing. And these are the things that are expected of you:

- TO GET INTO A "BUSINESS" MIND SET

> Realize that since this is a business, you must take responsibility as a business owner

> As you are your own boss, you owe it to no one except yourself whether you succeed or fail

> A business takes time to grow, so be patient with yourself

> Network marketing is a "get rich sure" and not a "get rich quick" business

- TO PRACTICE THE "SUCCESS" MIND SET

> Set your goals and plan your strategy, then take action

> When you do not get the results you want, don't give up easily but adjust your strategy and take action again

> Keep adjusting your strategy as necessary to achieve the results you want

> In this business, you cannot fail if you practice the "success" mind set

- TO HAVE THE RIGHT ATTITUDES

> In network marketing, you can only succeed if you help others succeed

> Use less of "I, me, myself" and think about how you can add value to your prospects and partners

> Be prepared to walk the extra mile and get busy once your network starts to grow

> How fast your network grows depends on you as you are the leader of your own network

> Whatever you DO, not whatever you say, is duplicated by your network

- TO LEARN THE "BUSINESS" SKILLS

> It's not money that makes you rich, it's business skills

> Learn the basic business skills that you need to make this business work

> These are essentially inter-personal and communication skills encompassing prospecting, inviting, presenting, closing, following up, training and support

- TO SHARE THE BUSINESS WITH OTHERS

> If you had started a traditional business with $100,000, would you open your door to do business everyday? Yes, of course.

> Network marketing is a word of mouth business. Thus, to do business means you simply tell others about your products or services.

> When you share your business everyday, you are in fact opening your door to do business everyday.

> Sharing your business is just making a referral. Do not confuse it with selling. A good example is to refer a friend to a restaurant because you thought the food was great. However, you most likely won't know how they cook or what ingredients the chefs use. You just loved the taste of the food or perhaps the service there.

3) WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT IN YOUR "JOB"?

Once you got that job and started working, you are expected to learn and pick up your skills as soon as possible but not instantly. (Unless of course you already have relevant experience in a previous similar job.) So, you actually go through a probation period of 3, 6, 12 or even 24 months. And then, initially, there's so much to learn and so exciting. However, this wears out as time goes by...

It is in fact not much different in network marketing. And these are the things that you should expect:

- THERE IS A LEARNING CURVE

> No matter how simple your product or compensation plan seems, there is simply a learning curve

> If you are starting network marketing from scratch, you need time to learn and develop the "business" and "success" mind sets as well as your "business" skills.

- YOUR INITIAL EXCITEMENT WILL NOT LAST

> Your initial excitement when you join a network marketing company can only last for 1 to 2 months

> So, you need to maintain your enthusiasm by building your belief and commitment by attending meetings, training, reading or listening to audio, etc

- REPLENISHMENT IS NECESSARY

> People come and people will go whether in jobs or in network marketing

> As this is inevitable, you need to constantly replenish your network by sponsoring new people till you reach a critical mass whereby the growth in your network exceeds the attrition rate.

- THERE WILL ALWAYS BE REJECTION

> No one has a 100% record in sponsoring no matter how good they are.

> Realize that rejection is part of the "job" and that they are rejecting the opportunity, not you

> Dismiss the rejection by chanting, "Some will, some won't, so what, someone else is waiting"

> There are many reasons why people reject your business opportunity. It could be due to money, time, family or personal problems, fear of rejection, fear of failure, etc.

> There is a ratio like 1 in 10 will join you after you share your business with them. So, the key is to share with as many people as possible. And the good news is that your ratio will increase.

To recap, this is what you must know in order to succeed in your network marketing business:

1) What is your "job" scope?

2) What is expected of you in your "job"?

3) What you should expect in your "job"?

In summary, your job is to share your business through word of mouth with your family and friends. So, learn to share as much as you can and you will get better each time.

However, the decision to join you or not lies with them, not you :-)

Have you ever heard someone say, "I've got some good news, and I've got some bad news."?

Well, network marketing and Internet marketing fall into that category. For this article, by the way, I may use the two terms somewhat interchangeably as most network marketing programs are done online to some extent these days, and most Internet marketing programs are network marketing programs at their core.

Whichever one, where the problem arises is that the good news and the bad news is the same news.Whether it's good or bad in someone's mind depends on their particular perception and point of view.

The good AND bad news about a home based network marketing or Internet marketing business is that it's easy! This seems like a good thing, but can lead to bad things.

First, I made the statement above because I have worked a lot of jobs at pick and shovel level and at executive level, and several in between.Secondly, I have participated in quite a few network marketing and Internet marketing opportunities, and failed miserably in GER. Then one day, the light came on, and I realized how easy all this marketing stuff really is!I am now successful with my home based network marketing business, which I mainly market online, and would like to share a little of what I have learned with you.

I have spoken to successful Internet and network marketers, including a couple of millionaires, and they seemed to be a little dazed at the fact that money was flowing in without them having to do much of anything.

The problem is that many of both types of marketers use the ease of Internet and network marketing as the bait to attract recruits into their programs, without being able or willing to explain the facts of one of these marketing businesses to their new recruits.

Let's examine this.

There's Fred and there's Sandra.

Fred sees a bunch of ads and job opportunities, but the one that catches his eye and lures him is the one which offers him a huge income with little or no effort on his part The business sounds good to him, but odds are, whoever recruits him gets his money, Fred will never hear from his upline once again. At least we can say that network marketing was easy for that guy, huh?

Sandra, on the other hand, is not looking for any get-rich-quick-scheme.She is willing to invest some of her time to acquire honestly is sweat equity in a home based Internet business, let's say.She understands about train-up times and learning curves, and she is willing to study, pay due her and take her lumps. She realizes that she needs to begin with an honest reliable business, offering a good product or service, with a decent business opportunity attached. She does her homework, makes her miseries, and then...

She believes that with time and experience it will get better.

She's right, by the way.

Be honest now.Who is most likely to succeed in life, work, relationships, anything?

You know what?

I think that I like Sandra and respect her opinion on things. If she's talking, I'm probably going to listen.

Fred, on the other hand, will probably turn me off almost as soon as he opens his mouth.

Okay, here's a POP QUIZ!

Since network marketing, whether done online or face to face, is about one person telling another person about a product or opportunity;and, since a lot of this transfer of information depends on trust and sincerity, who do you think is going to be the best network marketer?

Fred or Sandra?

You know, in the world of network marketing, the best marketer is not always the person with all the facts and figures at hand, although that certainly does help.

Simply put, the best network marketers, and the best online marketers, i.e. Internet marketers are people who network.

I bet Sandra has a lot of friends who she shares time and thoughts with.Fred, on the other hand, will probably tell himself he's going to do something, but at best, he's probably going to sit in a room all day studying facts and figures, but if he isn't on the street talking to people, or answering the phone as they in call... he isn't ain't selling anything or anybody up signing.

Take another look at Fred and Sandra.

Even if neither makes it big in network marketing, who is going to gain the most from the experience?

Why, Sandra, of course!

Okey, that's all good news for Sandra, so what's the bad news in the title?

After Fred fails, he is going to feel like he's been lied to, ripped off, conned! What's he going to do about it?He's possibly going to tell any one he can that such-and-such a company, or even network marketing, and Internet marketing in general, is a real rip off.

Now he's going to do some network marketing with a vengeance! He's motivated! They LIED to him!STOLE his money! He is emotionally involved and believes his story, and wants to share every little detail with anyone who will listen!

Why couldn't can't he do that as a distributor?

Well, he could have!

Anybody could have.

That's why network marketing is so easy!

And that's the good news.

All you have to do is tell people about your product, service or opportunity. If you really do believe what you are saying, if the product is a good product, and the company is a reputable business, why shouldn't can't you be happy to tell people that they can get soap, cellular phones, plastic ware, insurance, vitamins, or weight loss products from you?If that person doesn't want to buy from you, fine!Go tell somebody else.Drawn or later somebody will buy something.

That's the start of your customer base.Once you get a sale or a recruit, go out and do the same thing again. It you did it once, you will get another customer.Keep it up and you will see a regular income appear.Just don't give up!

Once you have customers, treat them right and they will possibly order from you again. If they like the product and the way they are treated, they will possibly send their co-worker or sister to you. That's marketing network which will work for you, and you don't even have to present a sales pitch to them.Their sibling or co-worker did it for you.

You know what...?

If they send their sister AND a co-worker, they might be pretty good at this network marketing thing. That could be the start of a marketing network, couldn't ain't it?

If they sign up or are thinking about it, why not give them a copy of this report?
